Welcome to Reykjavík Bear, the heart of the Icelandic bear community and home of the RVKBear festival. More than just an event, Reykjavík Bear is a gathering of kindred spirits—a place where bears and bear lovers from around the world come together to celebrate, connect, and experience the magic of Iceland in good company.
Our Story
Reykjavík Bear was born from the legacy of Bears on Ice, carrying forward the torch in 2019 with a renewed vision and a bigger embrace. At its core, Reykjavík Bear isn’t just about throwing a great party—it’s about building a community. That’s why we founded Bangsafélagið (The Bears of Iceland), a non-profit organization dedicated to creating spaces where bears, cubs, chubs, chasers, and admirers can come together, be themselves, and feel at home.
With every event, we stay true to the spirit of the bear community: friendship, inclusivity, and pure, unfiltered joy.
A Year of Milestones
This year, we’re celebrating five years of Reykjavík Bear—a milestone that marks not just our growth, but the strength of our community. But the celebrations don’t stop there! 2025 also marks 20 years of bear festivals in Iceland, a tradition that started with Bears on Ice and paved the way for what we continue to build today.
As we reach this milestone, we’re proud to have been nominated for Best Bear Event 2024 in the Bear World Magazine Awards! This recognition is a testament to the amazing people who make Reykjavík Bear what it is—our guests, our volunteers, and everyone who has supported us along the way.
